This privacy statement ("privacy statement") describes how we (Inter IKEA Foundation) process your personal information when you visit us on our website www.interikeafoundation.com (the "Website"), or contact us via mail, phone or email. Please read this privacy statement carefully.

This privacy statement is reviewed and updated regularly. If we change this privacy statement, we will post the updated statement here. Any changes will go into effect on the last updated date shown above. We will not retroactively use or share your personal information for materially different purposes without first taking reasonable steps to provide you notice.

On our homepage we offer links to other websites (i.e. www.inter.ikea.com and www.ikea.com). These other websites have their own privacy statements. This privacy statement is not valid for these other websites. Any choice you make with regards to the processing of your personal information on our website does not transfer to these other websites.

 

Who is responsible for the processing of your personal information


Inter IKEA Foundation, Kirchstrasse 79, 9490 Vaduz, Liechtenstein, is responsible for the processing of your personal information.

 

When you visit our website


What personal information we process

When you visit our Website, we process your IP address. We use this information for the following purposes:

- to diagnose problems with our server;
- to administer our Website;
- to manage traffic efficiently; and
- to avoid and manage security risks, threats and abuse.

IP addresses are stored in infrastructure components that manage traffic and security (load balancing and web application firewall) in Microsoft Azure region West Europe).

We base our processing of this data on the legal basis of legitimate interest

How long we keep your personal information

We will keep your personal information no longer than necessary for the purpose for which we process this data. As a rule, we keep your IP address for a period of 90 days after it was collected. We may store your IP address longer than stated above if it is necessary to fulfil legal obligations, or to protect our legal rights, for example in a legal dispute.

 

When you contact us


What personal information we process

When you contact us, we may collect and use records and copies of your correspondence. This includes contact details, such as name, e-mail address, phone number and any personal information you may provide in free text form. If you contact us on behalf of an organisation, this also includes organisation type, registered number and address.

We will use your personal information to help you with whatever matter you submit to us.

We base our processing of this information on the legal ground of legitimate interest.

How long we keep your personal information

We will keep your personal information until the handling of the matter that you submitted to us is finalised and for two years thereafter.

If you are journalist and you contacted media.relations@interikeafoundation.com, we may retain correspondence including personal information, such as email address, place of work etc, for the duration of the business relationship and for a reasonable term thereafter.

We may store your information longer than stated above if it is necessary to fulfil legal obligations, or to protect our legal rights, for example in a legal dispute.

 

Who we share your information with


IKEA companies

We may disclose personal information that you provide to us when you communicate with us to other IKEA companies. We will only share your personal information with other IKEA companies if necessary to resolve the matter that you submitted to us.

Service providers and business partners

To provide our services to you we may share personal information with third parties providing services to us.

These third parties may be within the Netherlands as well as within other countries in the European Economic Area (EEA). Or sometimes also outside the EEA. To ensure that your personal information is protected, both within and outside the EEA, we conclude appropriate agreements with our service providers and business partners and take other measures in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

Other third parties

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

We may disclose your personal information to third parties if we have reason to believe that access, use, retention, or disclosure of such personal information is necessary to:

How we keep your personal information safe


To help protecting the privacy of personal information that you have transmitted by visiting the Website or communicating with us, we maintain physical, technical, and administrative safeguards. We update and test our security technology on an ongoing basis. We restrict access to your personal information to those employees who need to know that personal information to provide the Website and answer your queries. In addition, we train our employees about the importance of confidentiality and maintaining the privacy and security of personal information.

 

Your privacy rights


Your rights

The GDPR the Liechtenstein Data Protection Act, and the Liechtenstein Data Protection Ordinance provide certain rights for data subjects.

- You have the right to request and receive, free of charge, information from us regarding our use of personal information relating to you.
- You have the right to have incorrect personal information relating to you corrected or updated by us without undue delay.
- Under certain circumstances, you have the right to request personal information relating to you to be deleted by us, for example where the personal information is no longer necessary for the purposes for which the information was collected, or if the personal information is processed in an unlawful manner.
- You have the right to request, when technically feasible, that we provide you with your personal information or transmit it directly to another controller (data portability).
- You have the right to request access to your personal information. Such personal information will be provided to you at no cost. If access cannot be provided within a reasonable time frame, we will give you a date when the information will be supplied. If for some reason access is denied, we will provide an explanation as to why access has been denied.
- You have a right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority if you have concerns about how we process your personal information.

If you choose to exercise your rights, we ask you to provide sufficient information, including your country of residence, state (if applicable) and contact information. And we ask you to include the subject to which your request relates. This information will enable us to verify your identity and process your request.
Depending on the type of request, we may request additional information.

We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by applicable laws.
